Walks

The Ryles is set amongst the beautiful rolling hills Cheshire and is, in fact, the ONLY pub set on the Gritstone Trail.

This is perfect walking country. To help you make the best of our surroundings we are developing a series of walks in the countryside surrounding the Ryles.

We are also planning a whole set of services for you, the walker. We plan to provide everything from free parking, a quick drink before or after your walk, a simple packed lunch and even full weekend package of meals and accommodation so you can enjoy the countryside to it's maximum.

We developing a series of "Walks" and plan to add more sections to compliment the walks in due course. Here are the first 4 Ryles Arms Walking Guides for you to try...

Important Information for all walkers

While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of these walks if you notice any errors could you please contact The Ryles on 01260 252244 or email at info@rylesarms.com

All these walks require Ordnance Survey Map OL24 for the White Peak Area, which can be purchased at all good walking shops and on-line at the Ordnance Survey Map Shop
(link opens in a new window)

All the walks listed require the use of strong shoes, preferably walking boots. Make sure you have waterproof clothing and some warm clothes. It would also be wise to carry a compass, torch and some food and drink.

All walks have an approximate time allowance. These times do not include breaks and are measured at an average walking pace of 3 miles an hour with a minute for every 10 metres of ascent. You will need to consider your own fitness level and make time adjustments if necessary.

The Ryles Walking Guides give a rough idea of the area the walk goes through, though it would be a good idea if you related the sketches to a map as the map will always show the walks in much more detail.
